Charges Laid In Greater Toronto Casino Investigation

ONTARIO-The OPP Investigation and Enforcement Bureau (IEB) has charged two people in connection with fraudulent activity at a Greater Toronto Area casino.

On February 24, 2025, members of the IEB, attached to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), initiated an investigation into allegations of fraud involving payouts using counterfeit tickets.

As a result of the investigation, two people have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Ilie Ioncila age 52 of Thornhill, has been charged with:

• Uttering forged documents

• Theft over $5,000

• Fraud over $5,000

Nicoleta Georgescu, age 41 of Thornhill, has been charged with:

• Uttering forged documents

• Theft over $5,000

• Fraud over $5,000

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on June 25, 2025.

The investigation is ongoing.
