KAWARTHA LAKES-On April 4 from 12 a.m. (midnight) to 2 a.m., Hydro One crews will be performing critical maintenance at a local hydro station.
Officials say for the safety of hydro crews, equipment must be de-energized to complete the work so approximately 6,470 Hydro One customers in the Trent Lakes area will be affected by a planned outage during this time.
Affected Hydro One customers have been notified via an automated phone call or text. Customers not yet registered for outage alerts can sign up at hydroone.com/outages.
“We thank customers for their patience as we complete this critical work and encourage them to prepare for the upcoming outage by taking the following actions” said Hydro One.
- Make sure appliances, such as the stove, are in the off position.
- Fully charge cellphones and other devices.
- Use a battery-powered alarm clock or cellphone to ensure morning alarms aren’t missed.
- Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible and using a cooler with ice for items needed during the planned outage.
- If water services will be affected at your home, consider filling jugs of water to use for drinking and cooking.
- If using a generator, remember to use it in a dry area outdoors away from any open windows, doors and vents. Visit the Electrical Safety Authority at esasafe.com for more tips.
