Winter Weather Travel Advisory Issued For Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Winter weather travel advisory in effect for this afternoon for our area.

Environment Canada says total snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 cm is possible with peak snowfall rates of 2 to 4 cm per hour causing reduced visibility in heavy snow this afternoon into this evening.

An Alberta Clipper will bring snow, heavy at times, to the area. The heaviest snowfall is expected this afternoon and early evening, thus likely impacting the afternoon commute. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

For road conditions and other traveller information from the Ministry of Transportation, visit ontario.ca/511, twitter.com/511Ontario, or call 5-1-1.
