Winter Storm Warning Issued For Kawartha Lakes And Peterborough

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough.

Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm are possible with peak snowfall rates possibly exceeding 5 cm per hour and near zero visibility at times in heavy snow. The storm is projected to begin this evening and ending Thursday afternoon. The heaviest snow is expected to fall overnight into Thursday morning.

Snow, at times heavy, will begin this evening. Total amounts of up to 30 cm are likely. This winter storm will impact the Thursday morning commute. Snow will gradually taper off Thursday afternoon. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to getprepared.gc.ca.
