KAWARTHA LAKES-Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 35, near Golf Course Road on January 25th, at approximately 1:30 a.m.
During the checkpoint, officers reportedly observed that cannabis was readily available to the driver. The driver failed to provide identification and was subsequently arrested.
33-year-old Adrian Chalmers-Lewis of Toronto was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Failure to identify self
- Failure to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
- Driving while under suspension
- Multiple other charges
In addition to the charges, the driver received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
