Impaired Driving Charge Laid After Vehicle Hits Hydro Pole In Bobcaygeon

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers entered into an impaired driving investigation following an interaction at a collision scene.

Officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on William Street in Bobcaygeon on Friday January 10, 2025 at approximately 6:26pm. Police say a red GMC pick-up was involved in the collision when it struck a Hydro pole.

Leo Vandewall, 54-year-old of Omemee, was charged with Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80.

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.
