22-Year-Old Woman Facing Impaired Driving Charges

PETERBOROUGH-A 22-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges after stopping at a  R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

On January 11, 2025, shortly after 11:00pm, officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on County Road 4 in Douro-Dummer Township. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. program and an officer spoke with the driver. After a brief conversation an officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested according to police.

Olivia Stewart of Douro-Dummer Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice Driver – BAC above zero

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on February 18, 2025.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight.
