Snow Squall Watch In Effect For Fenelon Falls And Northern Kawartha Lakes

kawartha lakes-A Snow Squall Watch in effect for Fenelon Falls – Balsam Lake Park – Northern Kawartha Lakes.

Significant snow squalls beginning Wednesday night with local heavy snowfall with accumulation of 30 to 50 cm likely. Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour. Very poor to near zero visibilities at times in heavy snow and blowing snow Wednesday night into Friday morning.

Snow squalls are expected to develop Wednesday evening and continue into Thursday. Snow squalls may move out of the regions temporarily due to shifts in wind direction during Thursday, but will redevelop on Thursday evening and persist into Friday. Locally higher snowfall amounts of greater than 50 cm are possible, especially if a single strong snow squall locks in on Thursday. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Road closures are possible. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.
