Police Asking Residents To Stay Off The Roads If Possible Due To Icy Conditions

KAWARTHAS-The Peterborough County OPP are currently dealing with multiple collisions on Highway 115 due to the onset of freezing rain. Highway 115 as well as County Roads are becoming slippery, so extra caution is required by motorists. If you don’t need to be on the roads at this time, please avoid doing so.

Kawartha Lakes Police Service says roads are already really slippery due to being covered in ice and are asking drivers to slow down and do not travel unless you really have too. They are already experiencing calls regarding accidents due to the road conditions.

If you do need to travel today, please be additionally cautious if you see flashing lights ahead. Emergency crews and tow trucks will be out dealing with collisions so ensure that you move over as well as slow down to ensure their safety.
