KAWARTHA LAKES-Jeremy Brown pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Alex Tobin in Omemee.
The plea was entered on October 3 in a Lindsay courtroom.

Tobin was just 18 years old when he was shot and killed on February 18, 2020, at an apartment on King Street East in downtown Omemee. Witnesses reported that two suspects were seen fleeing the building and then got away in a vehicle on Highway 7.

Jeremy Brown, who was 24-years-old at the time, was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of failing to comply with conditions of a release order in May of 2022.
Four others have been charged in connection with the case.
Dawson Tullock, 21, of Oshawa, was charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Jordan Brown, 31, and Oswald Brown, 76, both of Ajax, Ont., were each charged with two counts of party to the offence of failure to comply with release conditions and Clinton McDonald, 29, of Pickering, Ont., and charged him with accessory after the fact to murder.
Brown will be sentenced on December 20th.
