Lindsay Businessman And Philanthropist Earl Manley Passes Away At 95

KAWARTHA LAKES-Earl Manely loved cars but he loved his family and community just as much.

Manley was the second-generation owner of what would later become Manley Motors in Lindsay. He worked alongside his dad for years before taking over the reins himself and steering the business through almost six decades.

Earl passed away on September 18th. His obituary describes him as a “man of deep faith and unwavering generosity, a shining example of how one can live with purpose and love”.

It goes on to say, “His spiritual journey was marked by his active involvement in both the local church and the Masonic Lodge in Lindsay, Ontario, where he forged lifelong connections and served his community with steadfast devotion. His faith guided him, and he often joked, “I have a direct line to the Guy Upstairs.” But those who knew him recognized that it wasn’t just a saying – it was a reflection of the life he lived. Earl’s generosity extended far beyond words, as he supported both local and international charities. He was a principal patron of the Boys and Girls Club and Ross Memorial Hospital, always giving with an open heart and quiet humility. Whenever asked how he was doing, Earl would beam and say, “I’m in the top drawer”, a testament to his positive spirit and gratitude for life. He often remarked, “If I died tomorrow, I’ve had a great life.” And indeed, he did. His life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and community – a life well-lived, full of love, and one that will forever inspire those who had the honour of knowing him.”

We had the honour of going on a Sunday Drive with Earl in 2019.  We toured Lindsay in his 1966 Chrysler 300 Sport. Find out more in the video below.
