Traffic Complaint On Highway 115 Leads To Stolen Vehicle

PETERBOROUGH-The Peterborough County OPP has made an arrest in relation to a stolen vehicle that was recovered on Highway 115.

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, shortly after 5:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call about a black SUV driving northbound on Highway 115, believed to be a stolen vehicle. The caller advised that there were multiple people in the vehicle and provided a description of the vehicle and the driver to police.

Peterborough County OPP officers set up on the highway and as the vehicle in question approached, officers were able to safely conduct a stop of the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen. Officers ordered the occupants out of the vehicle and three people were arrested. The driver was also determined to be under suspension according to police.

49-year-old Patricia Chartrand of Whitby, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 8, 2024.

The two other occupants in the vehicle were later released unconditionally although one was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
