Attempted Murder Charge Laid After Hit And Run In Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-A 29-year-old Peterborough man, who is on probation, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a hit and run earlier this week.

At approximately 4:30pm on Thursday, September 6, 2024, officers with the Investigative Services Unit located a suspect in the George Street and Townsend Street area and took him into custody. Police say officers determined that the suspect and the victim in the hit and run are known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Fail to Comply with Probation

During the investigation, it was learned that the accused was a prohibited driver and bound by a probation order with the following conditions: to keep the peace and be of good behaviour according to police.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, September 6, 2024.
