KAWARTHA LAKES-A 28-year-old Lindsay man who was already on bail and wanted by Durham and York Regional Police is facing new charges in Kawartha Lakes.
On Monday August 5th, 2024 at approximately 8pm Kawartha Lakes Police Service received a call regarding a weapons incident in the area of Victoria Avenue north in Lindsay. Â
Officers were told that a man had approached a group of people in the area and threatened them with bear spray. One of the parties involved was an off-duty police officer who was able to observe the male enter a residence in the area. The suspect was located a short time later in the area and subsequently arrested. Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigative Branch assisted with obtaining a search warrant for the residence where the bear spray was located.
Michael Tomkinson from Lindsay was charged with the following:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Assault with a weapon X 4
- Fail to comply with release order x 3
The accused was released on Bail on three prior occasions for weapons and violence-related offences according to polcie. He was also wanted by Durham Regional Police and York Regional Police. He has been held for a Bail Hearing at 440 Kent Street west in Lindsay.
