PETERBOROUGH-Officers from the Peterborough County OPP charged a local resident with impaired driving after a traffic stop.
On Friday July 12, 2024, at approximately 3:00pm, an officer from the Peterborough County OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on County Road 28 after being alerted by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser. The officer approached the driver and made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail according to police.
32-year-old Nathaniel Kane of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on August 27, 2024.
“The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.” said police.
