Discretionary Inquest Announced Into The Deaths Of Three People After Bus Crashed Into OC Transpo Station In Ottawa

ONTARIO-Dr. Louise McNaughton-Filion, Regional Supervising Coroner, East Region, Ottawa Office, has announced that an inquest will be held into the deaths of Judy Booth, Bruce Thomlinson and Anthonia Van Beek.

Booth, 57 years old, Thomlinson, 56 years old and Van Beek, 65 years old, died on January 11, 2019, following injuries sustained when a public OC Transpo bus crashed at an Ottawa transit station. The bus driver was charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing death and 35 counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm. She was later acquitted of all charges.

A discretionary inquest has been called to examine the circumstances into their deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

Further details regarding the inquest, including the date and venue, will be provided at a later date.
