PETERBOROUGH-Charges have been laid following a dispute at a local campground.
Members of the Peterborough County OPP received a call for a possible stabbing at a local campground on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, just before 9:30pm. Officers arrived and spoke with witnesses who advised that an argument had started during a dinner between a couple, which later escalated upon returning to their trailer. After hearing yelling coming from the trailer, another family member attended in an effort to de-escalate the situation. As a result of the involvement, one of the individuals involved in the original argument displayed an edged weapon according to police.
Others from the park also attended the trailer and the weapon was taken away from the individual but one person received a minor cut which did not require medical attention in the process.
A 52-year-old from Oshawa, ON., was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.
The accused is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough at a future date.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
