KAWARTHA LAKES–Two drivers were arrested and charged with Impaired Driving over the long weekend.
On Sunday June 30th,2024 at approximately 3:00am a Kawartha Lakes Police Service officer reportedly observed a vehicle doing a burnout in the area of Lindsay Street and Queen Street in Lindsay. Police say when the officer attempted to stop the vehicle it continued at a high rate of speed before eventually coming to a stop in the area of Logie Street and Maryknoll Street. The 17-year-old driver was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous Operation
- Flight from Police
On, Monday July 1st, 2024 at approximately 7:47pm officers responded to a call for a possible impaired driver in the area of Hennessey Crescent in Lindsay. The vehicle was located at an address in the area and subsequently a 43-year-old-male from Lindsay was arrested and charged with Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
In addition to the charges, both drivers received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicles were impounded for 7-days and a date with a judge.
