KAWARTHA LAKES-Here are the municipal hours of operation and service schedules on Monday July 1 (Canada Day).
Administration Offices
All Administration and Municipal Service Centres are closed on Monday July 1. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Tuesday July 2.
Waste and Recycling
All landfills will be closed on Monday July 1, they will return to regular operating hours on Tuesday July 2.
Please remember that all curbside waste and recycling collection will shift forward a day due to Canada Day:
- Monday July 1 collection moves to Tuesday July 2
- Tuesday July 2 collection moves to Wednesday July 3
- Wednesday July 3 collection moves to Thursday July 4
- Thursday July 4 collection moves to Friday July 5
Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Monday July 1, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday July 2.
Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday July 1.
Regular service will return on Tuesday July 2.
Parks and Recreation
The Lindsay Recreation Complex will be closed on Monday July 1 and will resume regular hours on Tuesday July 2. The Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon is currently in annual shutdown and will re-open on Tuesday July 2.
Public Swimming and Public Skating will take place at the Lindsay Recreation Complex on Saturday June 29 and Sunday June 30, visit our Online Program Registration website to view schedules.

There will be no fitness classes running on the Canada Day long weekend (Friday June 28 through Monday July 1). Fitness classes will resume at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon on Tuesday July 2. Fitness classes will resume at the Victoria Park Armoury in Lindsay on Wednesday July 3.
Fireworks Use
Per By-Law 2007-236, consumer fireworks without a permit may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (June 30, July 1, July 2). In addition, setting off fireworks on these days is only allowed from dusk to 11pm. Please note that consumer fireworks may not be discharged during a fire ban.
Should residents wish to use fireworks outside of authorized days, a consumer fireworks permit for a special event must be obtained.
If you notice someone having an out of control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-5731 and follow the prompts.
Please note that professional fireworks display events are subject to the Burn Hazard Index in Kawartha Lakes and must be approved by the Fire Chief during a burn ban.
