Meteorologists Tracking Severe Thunderstorm Near Coboconk

KAWARTHA LAKES- Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain. This severe thunderstorm is located near Coboconk, moving east at 50 km/h with up to 100 km/h wind gusts and quarter size hail.

Locations impacted include: Fenelon Falls, Indian Point Provincial Park, Kinmount, Bobcaygeon, Buckhorn, Black Lake, Norland, Moore Lake, Coboconk, East Moore Lake, Rosedale, Gull Lake, Cameron Lake, Buller, Watsons, Howland, Silver Lake, Mount Irwin, Point Pleasant and Little Bald Lake.

Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
