KAWARTHAS-A 57-year-old Woodville man has died as a result of a crash on County Road 507.
At approximately 1:05pm on May 19th Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious two-vehicle collision on County Road 507. The collision involved a southbound motorcycle and a pickup truck northbound. Witnesses advised that the motorcycle had crossed over the centre line on a bend and could not correct it resulting in a head-on collision with the pickup truck. The vehicles had caught fire, but occupants of the truck had got out according to the OPP. The fire destroyed both vehicles.
Witnesses on the scene attempted CPR on the motorcycle rider until EMS and Fire arrived who continued the efforts. The motorcycle rider, a 57-year-old male from Woodville, ON., was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The occupants of the of the pickup truck, a 25-year-old male driver and 26-year-old female both escaped without injury other than the effects of the airbags.
County Road 507 remained closed for several hours while police investigated, and members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.
