Repairs On Kirkfield Lift Lock Could Cause Traffic Interruptions

KAWARTHA LAKES-Parks Canada is advising the public to expect traffic interruptions at the Kirkfield Lift Lock from Monday, May 13, 2024, to Friday, May 17, 2024, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Officials say a crane will be on-site to support the final repairs at the Kirkfield Lift Lock in advance of the navigation season. We expect to be able to maintain both lanes of traffic flow on Kirkfield Road (County Road 6), although traffic controls, including flaggers and signage, will be in place as needed.

“Parks Canada thanks area residents and visitors for their patience and understanding.” said a press release from Parks Canada.

The lift lock malfunctioned in 2022 and repairs have been ongoing.
