PETEROROUGH-Peterborough County OPP officers were called to a report of a vehicle that had gone into the ditch on Highway 7 near the 11th Line of Asphodel on May 11 just prior to 1:30am. Officers say they arrived to find an individual next to the vehicle who identified as the driver. The driver was travelling on Highway 7 when they attempted to turn at the 11th Line where they left the road landing in the ditch.
While speaking with the driver, officers said they noticed signs of impairment and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was read. The driver provided a sample of their breath resulting in a ‘FAIL’ at which point they were arrested.
29-year-old Andrew McNeil of Norwood, ON, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 11, 2024.
