Council To Hear Proposal To Declare City Owned Portion Of Boyd Heritage Museum In Bobcaygeon Surplus

KAWARTHA LAKES-City council will hear a proposal to declare the City-owned portion of the Boyd Heritage Museum property municipally known as 21 Canal Street East, Bobcaygeon a surplus to its needs at its Committee of the Whole meeting to be held on May 7, 2024 commencing at 1:00 p.m., followed by its Regular Council Meeting to be held on May 21, 2024 commencing at 1:00 p.m.

Both meetings will be held in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay, Ontario. Should the proposal be approved, City Council will proceed to pass a by-law to authorize the conveyance of the City-owned portion of the property land to the co-owner of the property.

The city says the co-owner of the building is The A. Sheila Boyd Foundation.  According to City officials, the Foundation has already confirmed that they are in a position to move forward with taking on full ownership of the property.

“If they are unable to do so, it would be Council’s decision as to whether the City would retain or otherwise dispose of its interest in the property.”  said Laura Carnochan, Law Clerk – Realty Services Legal Division, City of Kawartha Lakes.

Anyone interested in making deputations on this matter are requested to notify the Deputy Clerk at 705-324-9411 extension 1266 or by e-mail to [email protected] by noon on the 29th  day of April, 2024.
