KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 14.
Police say at approximately 01:44 am, officers responded to a motor vehicle collision on Eldon Road in Mariposa Township. According to officers, the motor vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a hydro pole causing the power lines to fall on the highway. A second motor vehicle then struck the power lines causing a secondary collision and vehicle fire according to police.
Brittany Krawec 32 years old of Fenelon Falls was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available
The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
“If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.” said police.
