Two Kirkfield Residents Facing Impaired Driving Charges

KAWARTHA LAKES-Tow Kirkfield residents are facing impaired driving charges.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP report on March 30, 2024, at approximately 12:27 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 35, through investigation the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences.

66-year-old Jean-Guy Duguay of Kirkfield, was charged with Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

On April 02, 2024 at approximately 8:24 pm, officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver, while officers were responding the driver allegedly struck another motor vehicle and continued to drive. Members conducted a traffic stop on the reported motor vehicle and arrested and charged the driver.

Wayne Taylor 60 years old of Kirkfield was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Remain
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.

Police say if you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture
