Police Say Several Firearms Seized After Disturbance In Haliburton County

KAWARTHA LAKES-Haliburton Highlands OPP seized several firearms after responding to an incident on the weekend. One person was charged.

On March 23, 2024, at approximately 10:39 pm officers responded to a disturbance in the Municipality of Dysart et al. As a result of this investigation, an individual was located and arrested without incident and several firearms were seized, according to police. No injuries were reported to police and there were no threats to public safety.

The arrested person was charged with:

-Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order-three counts

-Careless storage of firearm -three counts

-Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose-three counts

-Possession of a firearm obtained by crime- three counts

This person was held for a bail hearing.

No further details will be provided in order to protect the identity of the victim.
