Winter Weather Travel Advisory In Effect For Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-AWinter weather travel advisory is in effect for this afternoon and tonight in Kawartha Lakes. This winter weather travel advisory has been upgraded from a Special Weather Statement that was previously in effect.

Officials say we could get 5 to 10 cm of snow, with locally higher amounts possible, causing reduced visibility in areas of heavier snow.

The storm is expected to begin this afternoon and end early Saturday morning with light snow is expected to begin this afternoon, but should intensify in the evening. The snow will taper off from west to east late tonight or early Saturday morning. Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. For road conditions and other traveller information from the Ministry of Transportation, visit ontario.ca/511, twitter.com/511Ontario, or call 5-1-1.
