Quinte West Man Charged With Making False 911 Calls

NORTHUMBERLAND-Quinte West OPP has charged one person following several months of alleged unsubstantiated calls to 911.

OPP along with the assistance of the Quinte West Crime Unit arrested one male on March 19, following an extensive investigation into unsubstantiated calls to 911. The investigation started in late October 2023 and continued into March 2024 regarding unfounded emergency calls to 911. Quinte West Fire Services, Hastings Quinte Paramedic Services and Quinte West OPP all responded to numerous emergency calls that were deemed not legitimate.

24-year-old Donald Hawkins from Quinte West, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Public Mischief – 14 counts
  • Mischief – seven counts

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville and has since been released.
