49-Year-Old Man Killed In Early Morning Crash On Highway 7

PETERBOROUGH-A 49-year-old man has been killed in a crash early this morning.

Peterborough County OPP and emergency crews are currently at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 7 between Highway 28 and County Road 38.

At approximately 6:40am, the Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious collision in the area of Highway 7 and David Fife Line. Officers arrived on the scene to a collision involving a westbound passenger vehicle and an eastbound tractor-trailer. As a result of the collision, the 49-year-old male driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision or witnessed it and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP at (705)742-0401 or the OPP non-emergency number at 1-888-310-1122.

Both lanes of Highway 7 remain closed and traffic is being diverted around the area while OPP officers and emergency crews deal with the collision scene.

Please remain away from the area and plan alternate routes until further notice.

Highway 7 closure will remain in place while police investigate.
