Driver Stopped For Speeding Charged With Impaired

PETERBOROUGH-A driver has been charged with Impaired driving after their vehicle was stopped for speeding on Fife’s Bay Road.

Peterborough County OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on Fife’s Bay Road in Selwyn Township On March 10, 2024, at approximately 7:15pm. Police say while dealing with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol and made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath and as a result was arrested.

44-year-old Robert Carroll of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and Speeding.

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 23, 2024.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
