OPP Responds To Threat Involving Potential Firearm In Campbellford

TRENT HILLS- Northumberland OPP is advising there is no concern for public safety after receiving reports of numerous individuals involved in threats and a potential firearm in Campbellford.

On February 29, 2024, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Northumberland OPP officers with assistance from the Peterborough County OPP responded to two calls from individuals involved in an incident on commercial premises on Bridge Street.

Due to the immediate threat, a safe and effective high-risk response was completed without incident. Investigations revealed the occupants of two vehicles were engaged in a verbal altercation, and investigators do not believe a firearm was involved.

“The OPP takes all public safety threats seriously and provides the resources necessary to assess and respond to such threats.” said police in a press release.
