Snow Squall Watch Issued For Fenelon Falls, Northern Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Snow Squall Watch has been issued for Fenelon Falls and northern Kawartha Lakes.

Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate overnight and into Sunday with significantly reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 15 cm are possible by Sunday night with winds gusting up to 70km/h.  Lake effect snow squalls are forecast to begin late Sunday morning or near noon and will continue through Sunday afternoon before moving south of the area Sunday night.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero.

Officials suggest you consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
