PETERBOROUGH-Police say a 26-year-old Peterborough man wanted on warrants by three different police services was arrested Thursday afternoon.
Officers including several from the Emergency Response Team, spotted the man in the Simcoe Street and Aylmer Street area at approximately 5:05pm on February 15 and attempted to take the man into custody, however, police say he took off. Officers caught up to him in the Charlotte Street and Aylmer Street area and a Conducted Energy Weapon (CEW) was deployed as the male continued to resist arrest according to police. He was then taken into custody. Officers also retrieved a backpack that had been discarded during the foot chase.
From the backpack officers seized:
- 83.3 grams of cocaine
- 8.9 grams of cocaine
- 140.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- 75 dilaudid pills
- $2,095 in Canadian currency.
The accused was wanted by the Peterborough Police Service in connection with a fail to stop for police incident on February 11, 2024.
As a result, a 26-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Dilaudid
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
- Dangerous Operation (Feb 11, 2024)
- Flight from Peace Officer (Feb 11, 2024)
- Driving While Under Suspension (Feb 11, 2024)
- Fail to Stop for Police (Feb 11, 2024)
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, February 16, 2024.
