PETERBOROUGH-A Peterborough Resident has been charged with Impaired driving after crashing their vehicle on Highway 115.
On February 2, 2024, shortly after 7:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP received a call from an individual stating that they were being followed and were in danger. Police say the caller advised that they were driving at extremely high rates of speed and swerving through traffic. The individual made comments that appeared irrational and was told to slow down, exit the highway and wait for police to attend. While still on the phone with police, the driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed. Peterborough County OPP officers arrived on scene as well as EMS and the driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
33-year-old Timothy Casserly of Peterborough was arrested and charged with:
·      Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
·      Dangerous operation
·      Fail to properly wear seatbelt
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 5, 2024.
