KAWARTHA LAKES-A Snow Squall Warning has been issued for northern Kawartha Lakes with a multi-day event expected beginning this evening.
Officials say locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations of 15 to 40 cm by Monday evening with peak snowfall rates of 3 to 5 cm per hour. Significantly reduced visibility at times in heavy snow and blowing snow this evening through Sunday night for areas southeast of Georgian Bay and this evening through Monday for areas East of Georgian Bay.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some locations.
