Multiple Impaired Driving Charges Laid Over The Weekend

KAWARTHA LAKES-Local police were kept busy with reported impaired drivers over the weekend.

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a highway traffic offence, on County Road 48 on January 7, 2024, at approximately 8:07 pm,

Through investigation, the driver was arrested and charged.

John Wain, 39 years old of Keswick was charged with Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus.

On January 7, 2024, at approximately 8:17 pm, a vehicle was stopped at a RIDE program and an investigation commenced, as a result, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged.

49-year-old Jeremy Stephenson of Fraserville was charged with Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus and Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. Both motor vehicles were towed and impounded for 7 days.

On Saturday, January 6 at approximately 1:15pm, a Kawartha Lakes Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in Lindsay. As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old Lindsay man was arrested for Operation While Impaired.   Further investigation revealed that the male driver was also a suspended driver according to polcie.  The accused was charged with Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs, Operation while prohibited and Driving while under suspension. KLPS no longer release the names of people charged.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on 15th February 2024.
