PETERBOROUGH-A concerned employee of a local business contacted police to report a patron who they suspected was impaired and about to drive.
On January 3, 2024, shortly after 6:00pm, the Peterborough County OPP officers received a call from a concerned business reporting a customer who was about to drive away allegedly impaired. The caller had observed the person driving into the parking lot of the local business and while dealing with them in the store, became concerned that they were impaired. The employee was able to obtain the keys to delay the person leaving and contacted the police.
Peterborough County OPP officers attended the business where they were directed by staff to a person leaning over the counter.
22-year-old Clarissa Boyington of Havelock, ON, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired-alcohol and Operation while impaired-alcohol – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on March 5, 2024.
