KAWARTHA LAKES- The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after an OPP shot and injured a 48-year-old man in the Marmora area early this morning.
The SIU says preliminary investigation reveals at approximately 3:30 p.m. yesterday, officers were called to a remote hunting cabin in the area of Twin Sister Lakes Road for a man making threats. When officers arrived, the man barricaded himself in the cabin according to the SIU and police negotiators and tactical officers were sent to the scene.
There was an interaction with police and the man, and an officer shot a less-lethal firearm. The man allegedly shot at police and an officer shot the man with a firearm. The man was arrested and taken to hospital via ambulance.
He is in hospital in Kingston.
Three investigators and three forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
