No Injuries After School Bus Slides Off The Road Near Janetville

KAWARTHA LAKES-A school bus slid off the road at approximately 8am this morning near Janetville.

It happened on Gray Road near Lotus Road. The OPP says three kids under 10 years of age were on board plus the bus driver. No one was injured and there was no damage to the bus. No charges have been laid. The roads were snow-covered and slippery at the time.

The OPP and fire department were called to the scene. Witnesses say the Janetville Fire Station was paged to the incident but no volunteers were available. (Many work regular jobs during the day) Pontypool was then called in, delaying the response according to witnesses.

Kawartha 411 News has reported extensively in the past on the need for more volunteer firefighters, especially in rural areas.
