KAWARTHA LAKES-The Northumberland OPP has laid charges relating to child pornography after a ten-month investigation.
On January 24, 2023, the Northumberland OPP were sent to a property in the Municipality of Brighton where reports of non-consensual distribution of intimate images were provided. At that point, an investigation was initiated which spanned approximately ten months.
On November 22, 2023, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested a 16-year-old from Brighton as a result of the investigation.
The individual, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was charged with the following:
- Possession of child pornography
- Voyeurism
- Distributing intimate images without consent – two counts
- Obtaining property by false pretence – under $5000 – two counts.
