Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Parts Of Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES-Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Parts of Kawartha Lakes.

Officials say a severe thunderstorm is located East of Lake Simcoe, moving Northeast at 50 km/h.

The alert is in effect for:

  • Balsam Lake Park
  • Fenelon Falls
  • Lagoon City
  • Northern Kawartha Lakes
  • Orillia
  • Washago

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Locally heavy rain is also possible. Lightning kills and injures canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: Large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Emergency management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather Approaches.
