Impaired Driving Charge Laid After Crash Near Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Crowley Line in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township just prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 29, 2023. Police say the vehicle went onto the soft shoulder resulting in it going into the ditch.

59-year-old David Girard of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired-alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on September 26, 2023.

“The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.” said police.
