KAWARTHA LAKES-The City of Kawartha Lakes OPP arrested four individuals who were charged with drug and weapon-related offences when drugs, a taser, brass knuckles and pepper spray were located during a traffic stop according to police.
Shortly after 4:00 am on August 23 officers on patrol in Bobcaygeon stopped a vehicle for a driving-related offence. Police say as a result of the investigation a variety of weapons and drugs, including fentanyl, hydromorphone, oxycodone, cocaine and alprazolam were seized and four people were charged.
Aliza Hotchkins, 41 years of age, of Bobcaygeon has been charged with:
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Prohibited Device
Preston Huges, 40 years of age, of Bobcaygeon has been charged with:
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Prohibited Device
Christopher Ferguson, 44 years of age, of Bobcaygeon has been charged with:
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Prohibited Device
Melissa Ferrier, 33 years of age, of Lindsay has been charged with:
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
· Possession of a Prohibited Device
· Operation While Prohibited
· Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
· Disobey Stop Sign
The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 28, 2023.
