PETERBOROUGH-Peterborough County OPP officers were busy laying impaired driving charges on Saturday.
On August 19, 2023, just prior to 5:30 pm, Peterborough County OPP officers attended a single motor vehicle collision on West Clear Bay Road. Police say a vehicle left the roadway entered the ditch and struck a tree before coming to a stop.
66-year-old Diane Peleshok of Trent Lakes was arrested and charged with:
·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Shortly after 10:30 pm that same day the Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a single-vehicle collision where a vehicle allegedly collided with a Hydro pole after swerving to avoid a deer.
42-year-old Jeffrey Haffie of Napanee was arrested and charged with:
·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
On August 20, 2023, just before 2:00 am, Peterborough County OPP officers were attending to a nonrelated matter on Woodduck Drive. Officers say they observed a vehicle approaching their parked police cruiser at a high rate of speed. The oncoming vehicle collided with the parked police cruiser. No one was hurt as a result of the collision.
28-year-old Daniel Vander Eyken of Peterborough ON was arrested and charged with:
·      Operation while impaired – alcohol
·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
All of the accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days.
The Peterborough County OPP reminds operators of all types of vehicles/vessels to plan ahead when consuming alcohol. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.
