KAWARTHA LAKES-There’s been a last-minute change in the venue for the Canada Day fireworks in Bobcdaygeon.
Officials say the fireworks show has been moved from Tommy Anderson Park to Bobcaygeon Beach Park downtown. The fireworks usually always took place at Beach Park until the construction a few years ago when it was moved to Tommy Anderson. Officials say now that the park is almost complete the traditional fireworks show can move back to its original home.
“This week the event organizers requested a last-minute change of venue, it was reviewed internally and granted by the Municipality. The fireworks show will now take place at Bobcaygeon Beach Park.” said the City.
The move comes after concerns were raised by a resident living near Tommy Anderson Park about damage to their property. Doug Ford says the fireworks last year damaged his vehicle and his home.
“The damages were paid by the Bobcaygeon Canada Day Commitee however they are planning the same fireworks display over my home again this year,” Ford told Kawartha 411 News on June 26th.
“The City received notice of the incident when it originally happened but since it was an event hosted by an external party the claim was filed with the Event Organizer and settled with them,” said City officials.
Canada Day fireworks will be held at Beach Park downtown once again!
Happy Canada Day all!
