KAWARTHA LAKES-This Canada Day weekend, Kawartha Downs will host their second annual Kawartha Country Music Festival on July 1 and 2.
Officials say this event is their largest, and most anticipated event of the season. Kawartha Downs is bringing in some of the best Canadian country artists to perform this year. The doors open at 5:00 pm each day, and the show will begin at 6:30 pm.
The artists performing on Saturday, July consist of Dean Brody as the headliner, Jade Eagleson, and a surprise artist as the opening act. The show is estimated to finish at 10:30 pm and a massive fireworks show by Celebration Fireworks will immediately follow to celebrate Canada Day. There will be no fireworks on Sunday evening. The lineup for Sunday, July 2 will include Sacha as the opening act, followed by The Reklaws, and then James Barker Band.
Jade Eagleson is the “hometown boy” of the show, having grown up in Bailieboro. Jade says he is excited to be coming home to do a show and says that there are few shows like Kawartha Country Music Festival where his family and friends are all there at the same time.
New to the festival this year is the multi-platinum, iconic Canadian artist Dean Brody. Dean Brody has earned and maintained his top spot in the Canadian Country landscape, with an impressive 34 Top-10 singles, 18 CCMA awards, 2 JUNO awards, and more than 435+ million global streams.
Billboard’s Canadian Top 100 producing artist, James Barker Band will be performing for the first time at Kawartha Downs this year, but it won’t be their first time up on the stage. During last year’s festival, James Barker Band showed up as spectators and even got up on stage with Jade Eagleson to say hello to the crowd. “That was a very pleasant surprise that day, when James Barker Band showed up backstage and it’s just so great that we have them performing at this year’s festival. We feel very lucky to have such a fantastic lineup” says Summer Nickerson-Hagen, marketing director at Kawartha Downs.
In addition to making the festival a day longer than last year and adding more Canadian Country artists to the show, Kawartha Downs has also added the “VIP Experience Package/Add-On” as a ticket option. The VIP Experience notably includes a 4:00 pm pre-show dinner with a special artist appearance; Jade Eagleson on Saturday, July 1 and The Reklaws on Sunday, July 2. The artists will come to the dinner to say hello, and do an exclusive interview with Pure Country 105. VIP Dinner attendees are encouraged to take photos and videos. In addition to the pre-show dinner, VIP ticket holders will also get priority event entry, a free t-shirt, semi private bar (drinks not included), semi private washrooms, and a designated VIP concert viewing area. “We wanted to do something special. It is our goal to have our country music festival become bigger and better every year, and adding a VIP experience felt like the right direction to go in. We are very excited to be offering this unique experience and can’t wait to be part of it this weekend. Up until Friday night (June 30) at midnight, you can get VIP tickets and add-ons 50% off when you use code VIP50 on TicketWeb.ca” says Summer Nickerson-Hagen.
