UPDATE-OPEN Highway 35 Near Pontypool Closed After Serious Crash

KAWARTHA LAKES-City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) closed Hwy 35 for a serious collision involving a motorcycle on Tuesday.

Officers responded, alongside Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and pickup truck att approximately 7:45pm.

One driver was airlifted to a Toronto hospital where their injuries are reported as severe but not life-threatening according to police.

The highway was closed from Ballyduff Road to Twigg Road (including the intersection of 7A) for approximately 3 hours.

“Motorcyclists are more vulnerable than other drivers. They are tougher to see than other vehicles and with no occupant restraint safety equipment, they have virtually no protection in a crash.” said police.

 

 

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP is on the scene of a serious collision.

Highway 35 is closed from Ballyduff to Twigg Road including the intersection of Highway 35 and 7A. There’s no word on injuries. 

Please avoid the area for police investigation.
