Community Rallying Around Family Of Young Boy Killed In Collision In Oakwood

KAWARTHA LAKES-The community is rallying around the family of a young boy who was killed in a collision in Oakwood on Saturday.

On June 17, 2023 at approximately 11:34 am, officers responded, alongside Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a single-vehicle collision involving a child in Oakwood.

Police say one injured child was transported to hospital where they were pronounced deceased a short time later.

The boy has been identified as 5-year-old Colton Morrison.

“Our beautiful, spunky, funny little friend Colton Morrison was killed in a tragic accident yesterday. It is every parents worst nightmare and I am hoping we can all pull together to at least ease the financial burden of their unimaginable tragedy.” said the fundraiser. “Please help us raise funds in memory of Colton Morrison aka little Joe dirt. We all
love and miss you little buddy.”
Colton had two siblings and loved fishing and the outdoors according to his obituary. He was a student at Mariposa Elementary School.
“Colton would always say “get the net”, or “I wanna drive the boat”, he was an avid fisher and loved the outdoors.”
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Oakwood Arena, 1010 Eldon Rd, Oakwood, ON K0M 2M0, on Saturday, June 24th  from 12:00pm until 4:00pm.
$32,500 has been raised by the Go Fund Me account so far. Here’s the link if you are able to help out:https://www.gofundme.com/f/kaitlyn-and-mark-morrison
Our sincere condolences to Colton’s family and friends.
