Cannington Woman Charged With Impaired Driving In Lindsay

KAWARTHA LAKES-A Cannington woman is facing impaired driving charges after police allegedly found her slumped over the wheel of her car in Lindsay.

On Sunday June 4, 2023 at approximately 4:45 pm the Kawartha Lakes Police responded to a York Street parking lot for a report of a female in the driver’s seat of a vehicle hunched over the steering wheel. Officers located the vehicle which they say was running and the female driver was asleep behind the wheel.

While speaking with the driver officers observed signs of impairment and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle according to police. The driver was arrested for impaired driving and taken to the station for a drug influence evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert.

Police say during the investigation, officers located a small quantity of drugs in the vehicle. 34-year-old Cannington woman is charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and three counts of possession of a schedule I substance.

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, located at 440 Kent Street West in Lindsay on July 13, 2023.
